The NCHL will begin accepting individual and team registrations for the winter 2009-2010 Season starting June 1st 2009. Remember, the earlier you register and pay a deposit the better your schedule will be for the upcoming season. Your team picks the schedule based on the order your deposit was received. Just because you didn’t play hockey when you were a kid or haven’t played in a while doesn’t mean you can’t play now. The NCHL Beginner Program is a 12 week program that will teach you the fundamentals you will need to start playing fun and competitive hockey. Everyone in the program is starting at the same skill level, which takes away the fear and embarrassment of learning to play with higher calibre players. Best of all, you and your fellow classmates are a team that will play games against other beginners and then have the opportunity to continue playing in the NCHL together.

Sunday, May 3 2009 marks the 5th Anniversary of the Non Contact Hockey League. Starting in the summer of 2004 the NCHL registered 10 teams in two divisions. Operating year-round, the NCHL has just started their 10th season with over 115 teams, 9 divisions, a member base of over 2,500 players and is now the largest adult recreational hockey league in the city.
In five short years, the league has grown from a vision in the minds of a handful of sports enthusiasts into a full fledged hockey experience and successful business. Not only offering organized competitive hockey, the NCHL also provides beginner programs for individuals with little to no experience, ‘Boot Camp’ skills development sessions, team development sessions and more.
The league’s mission is to create competitive adult recreational hockey for men and women in a fun and safe environment. Unlike many others the NCHL has managed to find a mass collection of individuals willing to embrace the philosophy of camaraderie and sportsmanship. The NCHL truly is a better way to play.

Monday May 11th, the first edition of the NCHL page hits the sports section of the Calgary SUN. Tomorrow, over 100,000 people in this city are going to see what playing with respect, character and maturity is all about. Fittingly, today we are going live with the sun.nchl.com blog.
Here is where we get the chance to expand on the stories and ideas presented in a limited space of the editorial in the paper. We expect some of you are going to participate with us publishing your thoughts about hockey in general and recreational hockey specificlaly on here and in the paper.
